  1. you can kill them with baygon and all the other insecticides. But this does not solve your problem!. To get rid of the "colony" that is some distant form the feeding place you have to "feed them" with a capenter ant delayed toxicant that you are allowed to use where you live.

My best practice is that I "make a 3/4" wide and 2' deep hole"  where I can put in a piece of 3/4" electrical conduit pvc as close as possible where the ants are coming out of the ground. Then I fill the pvc pipe through a  funnel with the  capenter ant toxicant mixture. Do this for  two or three weeks every third day. What happens is that the ants at the source are taking in a little bit of the toxicant  and carry that a couple of yards and give it to the next worker and so on until it reaches the nest, where the queen is laying thousands of eggs.

And only when the queen dies, the colony of ants will be terminated.

["A delayed toxicant is critical because it allows the ants to forage normally for days or even weeks. During that time, ants consume the bait and return to the nest to share the bait with the rest of the colony. In a process known as trophallaxis, one ant regurgitates its stomach contents to another ant. This food sharing behavior enables the bait to be spread throughout the colony before the toxicant takes effect."

Killing the ants at the place where they eat will not solve your problem. Only when you would be able to find the nest with queen directly you can kill the colony, by killingt he queen. But that is allmost impossible. So the only other way is patience and feeding them to dead.

  2. try sprinkling boric acid, be careful with kids and pets

  3. You had better get an axterminator quick befoure your floor boards collapse.

  4. Call ORKIN!  I had some and I tried several "suggested by relatives and friends remedies!"  None of them worked, so I just called Orkin, and they took care of the problem quickly.  I have never seen any more.  Another thing you might do is check to see if any of your neighbors have them, because they do spread, and that might be where you got them.  Good luck.

  5. Use a mix of cinnamon and sugar. The ants will pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.
