A few of my rabbits have got Fur mites, taking them to the vets would cost An awful lot(though if nothing works that's where they will be going!)I live in the U.K by the way. SCATS Country stores sell Ivermectin & Ivormec but how do you buy it??! I know it sounds mad but they can't sell it to you for rabbits as its illegal(though some people do/can sell it legally), so do you just say its for your pig?!(ivormec is a pig wormer, but also kill mites) Any suggestions? Please, please answer back, you will be a life(& money..) saver!! Thank-you!

P.S even if you not from the U.K please still answer!

  1. ok unless you have to have a vet referal or the vet has to get the Ivermectin for you here is what I would do...tell them you have a pig of if you have a friend with a cow or something maybe they could even get it for you...I would personaly get the 1% injectable cattle and swine ...It will last you forever that way you won't have to worry about getting it again..you give 1/2cc per 5 lbs rabbit...if the mites are bad you may have to repete in 2 weeks and then every 6 mos after that..it is an estamation dosage...in other words if you can't weigh them you can guess on the weight because you would have to massivly OD to kill or harm the rabbit.

You use a needle and a srynge to get the Ivermectin out but It works better if you give it oraly and is less painful the the rabbit.  I hope this helps if you need to know any thing else ask me.
