I saw this huge bird while traveling through WV . It was flying low around a River. I mean this bird was huge, thought pre historic looking. It was not an Egele , I'm sure of that. The sky had grown dark because a bad thunderstorm was approching and that's when i saw the huge bird, it's wing span was longer than my car, no lye. I have never seen a bird that large in my whole life and I havn't seen it since. Can't believe that such a huge bird can go undected with out oters seeing it too. I see this bird oh, it was in 1998 close to Pt. Pleasant, WV It was day light except for a storm coming and it diff was some kind of lg bird.

  1. could be  an Osprey, they can have wingspans approaching six feet

Turkey vultures also have large wingspans of about six feet

bald eagles have a wingspan of close to eight feet

and golden eagles, usually seen in the west, but occasionly wander into the east, have a wingspan of about seven feet.

Great Blue Herons also have a wingspan of about six feet

sandhill cranes have a wingspan of about seven feet

  2. It would be hard to know without seeing it but I would guess something along the lines of a great blue heron.  They have very long wingspans and are very big birds.

  3. Try the turkey vulture.

  4. probably a bald eagle!those are the most aggressive bird species!

  5. could have been a turkey vulture/buzzard if it was black or a heron or crane if it was grey or white.

  6. I would imagine that it was a Great Blue Heron.

They are a fairly large bird, and in flight they really look large.

If it didn't look like a bird of prey, then most likely it was a heron.
