Question:

What kind of CD do I need....?

I have downloaded episodes of a TV show onto my computer, but when I burned them to a disc and tried to play it through the DVD player, it said the format was unsupported. That's probably because I used a CD specified for music. So what kind of CD should I get so that I can play it though the DVD player, with picture and audio?

  1. 1. You need a blank DVD not a CD so and then you need to encode as DVD-Video

    2. Same as above but VCD and encode the video as VCD

    3. Encode the file as Div-X (some dvd players support them)

  2. To be sure of being able to play it on a DVD player, you need a blank DVD, not a blank CD, and you need to burn it in DVD-Video format.

Most DVD players cannot play any sort of video from CD media, only audio.

  3. it's not the CD matter,

what you should do is, download a video convertor e.g amadis video convertor or xilisoft video convertor.

convert your TV show video to mpeg or mpg or avi format using the convertor.

Use a good burning software e.g. something similar to nero burner or nero 8

burn video file as burn video file or make.

it might encode your video b4 burning.

  4. You need to burn it as a VCD.If the software you're using doesn't have the option, you need different software. Most DVD players will play a VCD.

  5. Hmmm.... You are probably burning onto a CD-ROM. CD-ROMS are for music and powerpoints, not TV and DVD. I'd suggest DVD-ROMS? You can get some at Office Max or Walmart, wherever. Burning onto those should do the trick

  6. The disc isn't your problem. The fact that you haven't converted the file into one that the dvd can understand before putting it on your dvd-r is. I use HCEnc to convert files into the right format...
