  1. Pepper spray, in everyday terms, is an irritating substance extracted from the cayenne pepper plant, which is mixed with natural oil. This mixture is placed into a container and pressurized to create a spray or an aerosol. The cayenne pepper plant is better known as a very hot spice used for cooking and is also used in prescription drugs. Pepper spray is also known as oleoresin capsicum (O.C. spray).

  2. If you want a really hot pepper you would do best with the Habanero pepper. Oleo-resin of capsicum (OC) spray is what is used in the self defense product but for garden pest control you could use a blender slurry that is strained and added to a safer soap like product. I think you need a soap to dissolve the oils in water and that would make sense as you need a cheese or oily food to relieve the burn in your mouth. The strongest capsicum is in the ribs around the seeds of the pepper, come to find out. I grew some "Habs' " one year but here in the north you won't get the real heat one gets by growing down south.

  3. Habernero and Cayenne peppers are used .If you mean what part? Its the seeds.
