Question:

What kind of DOG is this!?

His name is Dwight!

He's about 4 1/2 months right now.

He's DEFINITELY mixed with dachshund but we're not entirely sure of the other part/parts of him!

We got him from some friends of friends in Seattle and they only knew what type the mother was, not the father! Mom is a purebred dachshund. She is a fawn color...

But dwight doesn't much resemble a doxie.

He has a doxie face, and a sort of long body.

His paws are larger than a dachshunds paws, or another smaller breed.

He also has the fur of a labrador retriever (not short but not long)

He is VERY energetic, and has an athletic build.

People have mistaken him for a puppy lab, but we're pretty sure hes not mixed with that for it would be too big for mom!

I've inserted some picture of him!

Your help would be great! Any questions of anything else that might help you, just ask! and I'll answer!

ALSO!

Hes VERY smart! He learned sit in about 5 minutes. He immediately goes to his crate when he comes inside. he rarely barks, looooves people...but isn't good with children. He likes to BITE! :(

and rough house with my boyfriend.

He also HATES water.

  1. It does look like he has some Labrador or golden retriever in him. He has similar facial features to these breeds. A very cute dog, whatever he is! :)

  2. well it def had doxie in it

i say terrier probalyy? its possible for a lab mix just might have gotten the smallness from the mom

  3. I agree a dachshund/Labrador cross would be quite a breeding challenge!

That being said, he does have the looks of Labrador fur and the shape of his eyes are kinda Lab-y, too.

But perhaps it's a breed of smooth-coated terrier - that tail is terrific!

  4. Lab/Lab mix

  5. I'd say he's a jack russel mix. They're very smart and rambunctious so that would explain the friendliness, rough-housing, and intelligence. The water thing I think depends on each individual dog and their personality. I have a 3/4 lab, 1/4 german shepherd and she's not much of a swimmer either, although labs are supposed to love water.

  6. Lab/Dachshound.

  7. I say Dachshund/Shepherd, but since you said it likes to bite Pit, Rott, or Dobe.

  8. It looks like a Black Lab to me.

Actually, it looks like a lot of high school guys!

    HA!

  9. Lab mix

  10. terrier/ lab

    too cute!

    DNA test from your Vets!
