What kind of Laptop should i get for my birthday?

ok my birthday is coming up and i want a laptop, but i dont know what to get my cousin has a dell and he does not like it , some people say the sony is bad..... so what do i think i should get......put a link plz = )

if i get a laptop i would probable watch movies , download firefox , download something like maplestory (online game) and just surf the net

Go with HP. Their laptops are built to last a long time. My HP desktop is 10 years old and still running fine. My HP laptop is 5 years old and still working fine. Just go to HP's web site and read up on their laptop selection and chosse the one you think will suit your needs the best.

get compaq. mine's compaq and based on experience, it works well. i got a dell before, it crashed like crazy for a few months since i got it. i mean, i got all the high specs, but it crashed. but my compaq is almost a year old now and i haven't had any problems with it.

if you wish to put online games and stuff on it, be sure to get these recommended specs:

- windows xp --- mine's vista. xp's better though.

- intel centrino duo with 2.0 GHZ processor or higher

- RAM of 1GB or higher

- 120 GB hard disk or higher --- mine's 60GB but it works fine.

Dell is defiantly cheap and best.

but if  r considering looks of the laptop as well as its performance .. go for HP ...

If you want Windows based Laptops definitely go for either of these:

1. Dell XPS M1530 or M1730

2. Lenovo ThinkPad T series or X series (Any one)

3. Sony Vaio (AR or SZ)

Just look out for the following specs:

a) Intel Core 2 Duo processor with Centrino Mobile

b) 2 GB of DDR2 RAM

c) At least 160 GB of Hard Disk

Avoid Windows Vista if you can, cause its just gonna slow down your PC.

If you want a MAC you can go for one. They are good, but keep in mind, most programs and softwares are made for windows and are not Mac compatible.

I say that a DELL laptop is the best.

Dont get TOSHIBA.

A lot of people that I know had some problems with their TOSHIBA laptops.

It depends on the amount you have to spend, whether you have researched the capabilities or whether you expect to replace it in a year or so. Have a look at the site below and that will give you some comparisons...
