What kind of Paintball Gun is good?

Question

I dont have any paintball gun yet....have only played a couple times and just want to get a decent gun for cheap.....(going to buy used of craigslist) but dont know what kind of gun will be good?

I will be using it to go out and target practice.......and maybe to play with my friends some time, and also to actually go to a paintball place.

if you could let me know what brand .....im thinking spyder so far because i find them everywhere there cheap....but just want to make sure im not spending my money on c**p.

Woodsball:  Tippmann 98 Custom, Tippmanns are the AK-47's of paintball guns, highly upgradable, and reliable.

Speedball:  Ion

Spyders are decent starter guns but they are not the most reliable and don't have a lot of upgrades available.

Craigslist is typically not a good place to buy from because most everyone tries to get 2-3 times what their gun is worth.

I suggest buying on Ebay.

like everything... the more you spend the better quality the gun is going to be. I personally like Spyders... they've never let me down, and they're very easy to fix if you have a problem. they break down really easy and most of them come with a drop forward already installed onto it.

some of my friends prefer tippmans. mainly the 98 custom... its very versatile and you can turn it into pretty much anything from a sniper rifle to a full auto gun if you have enough cash to put into it. I would beware though... as many people say they're known for their quality... i've seen a few fall apart in the field and my spyder e-99 hasn't let me down yet!

my advice... go for a spyder, but dont get a really cheap one... or dont get one from wal-mart, because if you get one from walmart they dont come with the mode changing chip in it to change the gun from semi auto, to 3 shot burst, to 6 shot burst, or to full auto like it should. for some reason wal-mart takes them out.
