  1. Hun i would get her pads to start she needs to get used to having a period before she has to try and insert tampons, i was told when i started its best to use pads for a while and see how they suit her because although its rare there is toxic shock syndrome to also consider although its caused by bacteria its also known that tampons can cause this too, i am unable to use tampons because of losing clots (sorry too much info) so my Gyno told me not to use them

  2. Tampons are too much for a 10 year old. I don't think they are ready for that yet. Unless she is an incredibly mature 10 year old.

My daughter prefers Always with wings (Its a little extra protection for her comfort) and we always get thin ones that are long.

  3. 10...that's so young to start.  I also started that early.  It's a long road ahead!

If she's comfortable wearing maxis only, i'd skip the tampons until she's a little older.  (at least 12)

I'd get the thin (for heavy/medium flow) maxi's that are long in front and back and have wings.  I think Kotex makes a good brand.

    good luck!!

  4.

I had my first period at the age of 10 and I was never introduced to tampons until a lot later. I started of with long ''always'' with wings.

Don't buy a brand that are particularly thick, she'll hate her period even more.

Tampons are a little scary at first, I remember my sister fainted the first time she attempted to put one...lol..and tampons aren't recommended at night because they need to be replaced every 4-6 hours. Give her a good thin long pad so she can get use to them quicker by day and by night.

  5. I WOULDNT START OFF BUYING TAMPONS FOR A TEN YEAR OLD, MAYBE WHEN SHE GETS A LITTLE BIT OLDER BUT FOR NOW I WOULD START OFF WITH THE "REGULAR" SIZED PADS AND ANY NAME BRAND NAME PADS ARE GOOD. YOU CAN ALSO BUY PANTY LINERS, LETS SAY FOR INSTANCE SHE IS LIGHT BLEEDING BUT NOT ENOUGH TO TAKE UP A WHOLE PAD, SHE CAN USE A PANTYLINER, I USUALLY WEAR THEM WHEN I AM ABOUT TO ED MY PERIOD LIKE THE LAST DAY. BASICALLY YOU AND HER WILL HAVE TO FIGURE WHAT HER CYCLE IS LIKE AND HOW HEAVY SHE GETS BECAUSE THEN AT THAT POINT YOU CAN KNOW IF YOU NEED TO BUY TEH MAXI-PADS ( THE REALLY THICK ONES) OR IF SHE IS REALLY HEAVY OVERNIGHT, SHE CAN BUY THE OVERNIGHT PADS WHICH ARE LONGER AND COVER MORE SO THERE IS NO LEAKING ADN THEN LIKE I SAID SHE CAN SEE IF SHE WANTS TO WEAR TAMPONS BECAUSE THEY ARE DEFINITELY NOT THE SAME. TAMPONS GO UP IN THE v****a AND PREVENT THE BLOOD FROM COMING OUT AND SOAK IT UP, PERSONALLY I STARTED OFF WEARING NOTHING BUT PADS BECAUSE I WAS SCARED TO USE TAMPONS BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HURT BUT I TRIED THEM AND THJATS ALL I WEAR NOW, BESIDES PANTYLINERS. GOOD LUCK!

  6. pads leave rashes on some girls so try that first and if it leaves a rash try playtex easy glide tampons the small ones. they arent umcomfortable going in

  7. I started when I was 9. I didn't use tampons for a few years. I tried so I could go swimming once - didn't like it. I liked the stayfree overnight pads. They were thin, so you didn't feel like you were wearing a diaper and they were long and wide enough to cut down on leaks - until she gets used to everything.

  8. Well according to Web MD, women between 10 and 15 years old have a much heavier flow then any other age group, so I would recommend the Tampax super absorbency tampon, I've found it works exceptionally well in controlling leaks while maximizing comfort

  9. I wouldn't do tampons for a 10 year old. Just doesn't seem right. At least in the beginning. As far as pads, I'd get the right size and absorbency to accommodate their flow, which likely is light. Maybe pantyliners would work? I would buy a variety of things, then see what she uses and continue to buy that one. It likely would be uncomfortable for her to talk about which pad she likes so that would be a sneaky way to find out.

  10. pads- Id use always(with wipes).

and tampons- the SMALL O.B tampons. they are called "o.b"

  11. You shouldn't be on here, if you're just 10!
