  1. That's a common Northern Water Snake. They're non-venomous, but are very nippy and will defend themselves. While they are harmless, they are better left alone.

  2. Here is a list of all the Snakes in NJ-----** my guess!!

    Scarlet snake

    Black Racer snake

    Ring neck snake

    Corn snake

    Hogenose snake**

    Rat snake **

    King Eastern snake

    Milk snake

    Water snake**

    Green snake

    Rough/Smooth snake

    Queen snake

    Northern Pine  sanke ***

    Brown snake

    Red Bellie snake

    Ribbon Snake

    Garter snake

    Smooth Earth snake

    Northern Copper head snake***

you have all these in the state you live!!!!!!!!

  3. It could be a Cotton mouth/water moccasin, a baby python or a baby anaconda. it is really hard to tell without any fetcher descriptions other than its size.

after seeing you pic it is a cotton mouth/water moccasin and they are very venomous so stay away from it.

  4. I think you should let it go. It would be much better in the wild. It would be much better taking care of it's self than someone who is trying to take care of it. If you really want a snake, find one at a pet store! Not in the wild. It could be venomous! Sorry!

  5. A snake that like hang'n by the muddy river!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no description, how are we supposed to tell you?
