Question:

What kind of Transition lenses?

I'd like some glasses that switch between being clear and dark, not necessary transitions. I heard transitions only work when you're directly into the sun, which is annoying if you wear a hat or get recoil sun damage from stuff reflecting the sun. I also heard they don't go as dark as sunglasses, which is a bummer because the sun here is very hot and bright. So I'm wondering, considering all of this, is there an alternative that would be better than transitions for me?

  1. I would recommend a polarized lens for your sun needs. I usually recommend transitions as a comfort feature for "clear lenses" I never sell them as an alternative to sun glasses. Most of my really sun sensitive patients have Transitions in their regular glasses plus a pair of good sun glasses.

  2. All the photochromic lenses work the same way...but Transitions brand are the best ones .

All the photochromic lenses are activated by direct UV rays.

You may be better off with a separate prescription sunglass in your case....permanently tinted.
