Question:

What kind of Washing Machine should I use in my basement?

The drain pipe is 7' up. The machine the I have does not have a 7' drain tube, so I need to get one that is made to drain UP at least 7'. Which brands and years made are the best ones for me to get for this. This is one thing that isn't mentioned when shopping online and I don't have time to shop in the stores right now.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

  1. Your washer will likely pump it that high.  Get a hose and try it out.  If not drain it into a basin, like a sink with the drain plugged, then get a small sump pump to pump it up to the drain if your existing washer will not pump it that high.

This can also solve the problem of a big flood if the line backs up.

  2. Instead of buying a new washing machine, if the old one is working fine, either see if you can lower the drain pipe or just purchase a new drain hose for the washer.  It doesn't have to be a preformed drain hose, just a hose the right size to clamp on the pump outlet.  I don't believe most washer will have any problem pushing water that high.
