What kind of a discount can I get on a car if my dad works for GM?

I am a college student whose car is on it's last leg. Since I am still a broke college student, I thought I should take advantage of the fact that my dad works for GM. For now, I need a basic car to get me to and from school, and I want to get a Chevy Aveo. Fully loaded msrp is 16,200. I will accept 1,500 for my car, plus I would like to put about 2,000 down, and I get a discount. Does anyone know a ballpark range I could get off a car like this??

By the way, the Chevy Aveo wasn't my first choice, but in terms of GM cars, this is the best deal I can get.

  1. If you're just estimating, I'd assume you'd pay around invoice for the car. You may get a better deal than that, but that's the number I'd use to guess.

Obviously your dad could give you the best answer. I don't know why you're not just asking him.
