What kind of activity can I do to release anger in a good way?

I've been shy all my life and tend to bury my problems away deep down inside my little heart. If I get mad or upset, it gets pretty overwhelming so I want to release that in a healthy way. What is a good idea?

  1. If it's about a person or multiple people, learn Photo shop! I do it all the time, and it's actually quite relieving/ pleasing to see your rival's head on a pole or as a vampire bat! Just don't post the images, unless you're looking for trouble.

    Some ideas:

    -Vampire/zombie/pumpkin head/witch, etc

-Fatness- Make him/her the fattest on the block!

    -Half-snake, demon

-Embarrassing moment, like having gummy hair, died hair, pants down, "loser" on forehead, etc

    -On fire

And so many more! Use your imagination.

And if you don't have photo shop then make a doodle and throw darts at it!

  2. Anything active.  It really helps.  I used to be super shy, and I still tend to keep things to myself.  Any type of physical activity (from intense running to yoga) will not only take the stress away, but will give you endorphins (to make you happy  :)

  3. I have several exercise DVDs to choose from I like to pop in the player at the end of a stressful day.  Leslie Sansone walking DVDs are my favorite.  Not hard to follow and you really get a good workout.

A nice hot bubble bath is good too!

  4. Position yourself on your knees in front of the sofa or an overstuffed chair. Hold a tennis racquet with both hands. Raise the racquet over your head and smack the c**p out of the cushions. Hit the cushions with the flat face of the racquet. Stay on your knees so you'll be stable and won't hurt your back. Do this in the house when you are alone. Feel free to shout, curse and cry. Beat on the sofa until you are exhausted.

Sit at the table by yourself. Tear up the phonebook. Grab a fat handful of pages and use all your might to tear the pages. That works pretty good, too.

My favorite however is the tennis racquet thing! Works wonders.

  5. When i used to get mad i would hit something or break stuff....then one day i realized i look like a total psycho ! and stopped.

I started using colors to express how i felt or to describe what i was feeling and realized that it helped me to channel all of my energy into creating something. I think that this will help you in the long run, because it helps you to focus and concentrate on other stuff  rather than being upset . Plus it helps with stress and can make you release all of your negative energy into something you did yourself.

I couldn't afford any of the expensive art supplies so i got creative and used old makeup or crayons....ya know stuff that's around your house.

    Hope this helps

  6. I've found that four or five negative or sarcastic posts in the open Q at yahoo answers settles me down quite a bit and allows me to get down to the business of solving the world's problems in a more constructive manner. You might try a physical  fighting sport like Karate or ti kwon do, or jogging or playing Grand theft auto. Just remember that your problems are yours and that it's not right to vent on people for no reason.
