Also is the 18th birthday supposed to be an important one?

What would be some adjustments that he/she needs to make in order to improve the upcoming year?

  1. Ah, that's right.  You're a Cancer, so your birthday is coming up (if not here already).  Well... happy birthday!

Anyway, 18 isn't as fantastic as people build it up to be.  The fact is, most people are still somewhat reliant on their parents (be it for healthcare coverage, college, rent, etc...) until their early to mid 20s.  So while you get a bit more legal freedom (you can sign a legally binding contract and everything that entails, for better or worse... you can go to 18+ shows... as well as several other less savory things like buy cigarettes, watch a p**n, film a p**n, join the military, etc...), your actions are still somewhat subject to parental approval.

And the flip side... if you aren't dependent on your parents at all, then you'll likely be spending so much time working (usually at a low paying job) to spend all your money and bills, and thus you can't really afford the money or time for anything else.

So... most people aren't really "free" (one way or another) for several years after turning 18.  So, in my opinion, it's best to look at it as another birthday with a new set of turning points in your life, just lie any other.  Continue the course you were on, using your new resources (however limited) to do so, or change courses entirely, if you want.  Like any other birthday, you're still the same person living the same life, so make of it whatever you want.

  2. u can smoke when u r 18

  3. you can vote, i turned 18 this week and my friends were joking around and were like you can go in a s*x shop lol, but the importance is when you are 18 you are considered an adult :)

  5. For one, you can vote.  Eighteen is that marker that shouts "I made it through one of life's first little milestones!"  You can attempt to purchase your first car on your own, join the military .  An adjustment would be to always carry your license/ID with you to prove you are 18 if need be.

  6. u can smoke[ if you do ] gambel play lotto tickets. and u can VOTE  and ur considered an adult and responsible for your own actions...

  7. you can now get killed by tobacco or by the military. Congratulations.

  8. Being your own person!

  9. Happy Birthday!  You're an adult and you can make choices.  You will make mistakes and you will pay for them immediately or sometime in the future.

I am an old man, but I'm very happy.  But, I've made some terrible mistakes and paid dearly for them.  Older men tried to tell me, begged me to take their advice, but I didn't.

Old men told me not to smoke, but I did for 45 years.  I have emphysema and I will die much sooner than if I'd not smoked.

My parents tried to get me to go to college.  I wouldn't.  As a result, I never made much money.

Old men told me to save and invest my money, but I thought there was never enough money to save.  Now, I'm retired and I sure wish I'd have saved more.  I didn't really understand the miracle of compound interest until it was almost too late to benefit from it.

In spite of it all, I've had a good life.  If I could do it over, I think I would seek the advice of older people and then follow it.  Maybe!  But, getting old doesn't necessarily endow one with wisdom.  In the end, you have to make the decisions.  Have a good life!

  14. the advantage of the realization that the past 18 years of education was of no use after all.

  15. One is considered to be a mature person once age 18 is reached .....it's great occasion and i believe one shouldn't misuse the freedom and respect that one is likely to get from others .....both at home and outside.

To celebrate the 18th B'day , I would suggest , one to have a sobre party with members of the family and elders .....if the space permits, invite a few close friends .......spend the occasion gracefully with nice gestures to all. Don't you ever take this occasion to  go wild and do whatever you like  neglecting the blessings of the elders.

Along with the growth of age one has to be more responsible in general behaviour , public dealings, social work and studies , of course. No more childish behaviour please...........be true to yourself and everything will go fine for you from now on ....take things seriously and develop a good personality that earns respect and love from others automatically.

    All the Best !

  16. The right to become independent, and to prove yourself that  you can stand with your own two feet. A wake up call to the real world, he he he ...No offense, just jocking...

There's really a lot of things that an 18 years old have to discover. Most importantly the door is wide open for you to seek your own future,  oppotunities that lies ahead, build your own experience, and at the same time to grow and learned from it...There are rough roads of course, but just keep on going and never lost your hope...

Your family is the most important people of your life, and they will always be there to guide you. So never hesitate to listen, and seek for their help and advice. They're always be there for you no matter what..

So welcome to adult world, and Good luck to you...

  17. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Cancer girl.  I hope the 18th year is the best yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, the 18th is supposed to be an important birthday, but it is so far behind me now, I can't even remember the details of why............however, when my sons turn 18, then I treat them like adults and expect all the upbringing pays off so they make good choices and decisions for themselves.  In my mind, they are adults at that age.
