  1. For the tires?

You'll need a pump that is suitable for a PRESTA valve. To use one, gently unscrew the tiny nut on top of the valve, install the pump head, inflate, remove the pump, and gently s***w the nut back down. These are available at any bike shop.

You can also get a presta adapter which screws onto the valve so you can use any car type (schraeder) pump. These, also available at a bike shop, generally cost under $2.00.

You'd be well advised NOT to use a compressor or a cheap pump. Most compressors can blow your tire right off the rim dur to the large volume of air (not necessarily the pressure) and most cheap pumps either won't reach the pressure you want or will fail in a few uses.

  2. Every pump I've seen lately will work with both Presta and Schraeder valves. Schraeder valves are the same as what you will find on a car. Presta valves are thinner. You need to unscrew, but not remove, the valve at the top of the stem to inflate or deflate tubes with Presta valves.
