The ones which end abruptly (for eg. Iron Man, Highway Star, Trooper etc..)

or

The songs which 'fade away' (like comfortably numb, hotel california , back in black, crazy train, fade to black ,etc..)

i prefer the ones which fade away...especially when it fades away with a powerful guitar solo...also it frustrates me..i kinda wish the solo wd go on and on...if u know what i mean..

so...what do u prefer and why?

MQ : Your fav song which fades away in the end?

  1. I like the Iron Man type of ending, because of its solo ending.

    MA:

Fades away: Holy Diver - Dio

Double bass drumming - Hallowed Be Thy Name - Cradle of Filth (cover)

  2. Ends abruptly, mainly because my favorite songs do. I really don't care though, just as long as the song itself is good.

  3. I prefer songs to fade away because then it feels like they never end :)

    MQ; Too many to name!

  4. I prefer songs that fade away gradually.

MQ: Living After Midnight by Judas Priest.

  5. I think mostly it's the ones that fade away, but there are a couple I like that fade out and then fade back in again, before a final fade out. There are some songs which work best with an abrupt end, but the majority seem best suited to drifting away...

I'm not sure 'why' I prefer them. Maybe it allows me to imagine a continuation to the song...

    MQ : Fade :~

'Gold Dust Woman' ~ Fleetwood Mac

    'Gold Dust Woman' ~ Sister Hazel {cover}

    MQ : Abrupt end :

I really, really wish you could hear the version of 'Gold Dust Woman' that happens in my head. When it gets to the 'darker' part of the song {after the second chorus}, I love the idea of having at least three drummers playing, to add darkness and depth, and some sitar {which is on the cover version}.

And my version of 'Sisters of the Moon' involves wolf howls...

  6. mostly the ones that end abruptly because the one that fades away tends to sound to repetitive. a never ending torture. the one that ends quickly leaves you wanting more.

  7. well in Metal I like a song structure where they leave one killer sick heavy riff that is no where in the song until the last transition, so they do the whole song and at the very end the last say 20 - 30 seconds they make a transition into that sick heavy riff and then fade out the song like that, like Chimairas song "eyes of a criminal"

  8. To pick but one it has to be Sir Pyscho s**y by RHCP, finishes off on an awesome solo for about 2 minutes and lets you reflect on what you've just heard!

  9. are you writing?

i would fade away a little bit then abruptly say a word that has nothing to do with the song like: TOMATO

  10. Dream Theater- The Ministry Of Lost Souls

It's the best ending solo...it's like that persone is really going and gone... With the words:

    Goodbye

It’s time I release you from this life

Don’t turn youre back on paradise...

  11. I recall this being brought up by a friend when we were

    mere lads.

He was insistent that perhaps all songs should end suddenly,

showing how "tight" the band is.

Well, yes, I pleaded but, we're talking songs here...things depend, etc.

I love how "Different Strings" found on Rush's "Permanent Waves"

fades out, leaving you just jonesing for more of perhaps

    Lifeson's Blooziest performance.

Love how "Heartbreaker" kicks right into "Livin' Lovin Maid"

and also from Page & Co., how, in their film, they do a

Stunning-Segue from "Rock & Roll" into "Black Dog" with a nice

TakeThat brought to us by the snippet of "Bring It On Home".

  12. I prefer the mother of all over the top endings. My favourite being "Muse - Space Dementia".Is there a more over the top ending than this song?I doubt it.I love it.
