  1. It's not an antenna you need it's a DTV box

  2. Just buy a freeview box. 1 per set or new t.v.s. they all have digital channels now

  3. I am not sure but this gives you the perfect excuse to buy yourself a giant LCD screen.

  4. its not the antenna that is the issue.  It is your tv.  You have to have a digital tv, or a tv that has a digital tuner (ATSC).  If your tv does not have this type of digital tuner, then you will need a converter box to receive a signal.  Check source link for more information.

Let me address your question.  The TV stations will generally be relocated into the UHF TV band, so if you are going to use an outdoor antenna get an antenna that favors UHF band.  I would recommend a  log periodic (LP) antenna with a corner reflector and a bow tie or UHF LP at the focal point.

I think you understand that the TV transmission format will no longer be AM video as in the past but will be converted to a digital signal.  The digital TV signal will occupy the bandwidth occupied by what was equal to two TV stations in the past.
