I want to make an Apple Crumble form the recipe on Cooking Guide (DS). It says 4 apples, but it doesn't specify if they should be normal apples or cooking apples. Help?

  1. Use your cooking apples, they will be best. Sprinkle them with sugar and a pinch of cinnamon; add some raisins if u like. HTH :-)

  2. The only way to poison someone with apples (it won't kill him, but it'll make him wish it did) is to use unripe apples.  How do you tell?  Look at the seeds (pits).  If there's the slightest white spot on any seed, don't use any apples from that tree yet - they aren't ripe.  After you don't see any more white on the seeds, you can use them, but keep checking - there may be an unripe one after most of them have ripened.

  3. use baking apples, it works for me apple pies.

    good luck.

if you use your own, make sure you have ye boyfriend well insured baby!! lol!!!!

  4. Green Apples or Mackintosh both will do

  5. Bradley cooking apples are my favourites, I have a apple trees that bears cooking apples,whit-ch I also use. Why buy apples when you have them in your garden, they cant get much fresher than that.  Use them

  6. green granny smith cook up well and they are tart

  7. cider apples,  Give it a bit of bite!!

  8. Cooking apples.

  9. Bramleys are best in my opinion. I like cinnamon in the crumble too, oh and custard; plenty of  custard

  10. it probably doesn't say small, medium or large either.

it would be nice if such recipes said 1 pound, or 2 pounds.

pippin and granny smith are the obvious choices.

    they have similar tartness.

pippen are harder, and you might want to use them when you cook longer.

but i personally like some texture.

really old recipes say new england greening -- but i've never seen any.

  11. I use cooking apples when I make apple crumble and usually use bramleys. Just sprinkle them with a little bit of caster sugar. The cooking apples in your garden should be just fine to use

  12. ur supposed to use granny smith apples the really soft ones.perfect for cooking

  13. Russet apples are the best. If you cant find them, use Red Relicious.
