What kind of backpack/bag should I have for school?

I am going into 8th Grade and I am thinking of getting an over the shoulder tote. But I want a backpack. If you are this age (or was) what did you do? Also if I get a tote I want it to be a zip up one and where can you get one fairly cheap in ontario?

I have one of those l.l. bean backpacks.

I had a tote but that was many years ago.  You'll need to consider if you will have a locker to put it in on occasion or will you have to carry everything all day.  Don't overload it and ruin your back.
