Question:

What kind of battery do I need for my 98' Cadillac Catera?

The batter died after sitting for a year. I know it requires a larger battery then your average car but I'm not too familiar with batteries. Can somebody tell me what battery I should be looking for? Amps? Brand? Etc. I will be running a 500rms watt sound system which isn't much but I'll consider getting a much better battery just to be safe.

Please and thanks

  1. A larger, more powerful battery may require modifactions to the vehicle. The battery is a "group 48/91" which I believe is also vented through a tube to the outside of the vehicle. These batteries are not the same design and dimensions of a typical American made vehicle's battery becuase the Catera is of European design.

Also, if you are going to let a vehicle sit for longer than a month, disconnect the battery and charge it once a month.

  2. i love interstate myself

the mt78 is the one you want for that car  it has 750 amps  and they work great  call 1800 crankit  for the nerest dealer

or if you really want to go all out  get a optima battery it wll cost you $175   i really dont think it is worth the extra cost myself

  3. Die-Hard or Delco, 600 to 800 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) and with that sound system you might want to thinking about going to a Bigger (Higher Amp) Alternator to maintain the Charge in the Battery.

  4. I would say go for a Die Hard Gold or Die Hard International. The International is for more rare fits and tends to be the most expensive. I have a Gold now, and run amps and sub woofers with no problem. Its been in there for at least 6 years.
