all around the house in 2 or 3 places but especially way up high in the pitch of the roof, the upside down v shape. I read that bumble bees or honey bees only make hives in trees or tree trunks, inside the cracks of trees etc.. I don't know if what I see is a bee hive but I have seen multiple bees going into the window casings and hanging around pollanting the flowers near the house. I have caputered 4 bees within the last day and a half. They looked really big crawling on the curtain but inside the window sill it looked fat like a bumble bee and 1 that was caught in a pitcher looked like it got smaller and curled up. Could they be carpenter bees (if we even have them here) or some other kind of bee? Since honey bees don't go only in trees they must be ruled out.

  1. if they look like a big ant that fly they aren't bees..they are wasps. you can buy wasp killer at home depot. if they are yellow with black lines across and look hairy then they are bees and they don't only make their hives in trees. my next door neighbor had honey bees in his warehouse wall, he had to call the animal services so the could remove them without harming them.

  2. Nearly all bees and wasps that do not nest in the ground will take a gap between the window and the house as an invitation to build a home.

  3. Honey bees make hives where ever they find a hollow. Commercial bee hives are just special boxes. I have seen bee hives in the attic, inside of walls, under the floor of old buildings.

Bumble bees make their hive in the ground.
