What kind of beetle/bug/fly/bee is this?

Question

Ok well I have no idea what this thing is and I did'nt get a picture because its hiding in the curtin and I don't want to be bit/stung. It has a long body about --------- long mabey a little longer, is black and has about 3 big white stripes.It can fly and I tryed to swat it and it did'nt come sting me so I'm guessing its a nice wasp/bee or some other kind of insect.Can someone please help I have got no clue what bug this is but there have been 2 of them in my house and I want to know about and if they are poisenis and sting or bite.If you can get me a pic to to see if its the same thing that'd be great please help!!!

Don't swat at the things -- they may become aggressive; you can catch them between a glass and a coaster, and take them outside.
