i dont have a pic, sorry, but i can describe them...

first of all, they grow wild, from what ive seen, they grow near wooded areas...

second of all, they look like blackberries and raspberrys with the size and bubbly texture...

they are a navy blue color when mature, start of greenish white, then change to red, and then dark blue, and then will start to dry out...

they grow on a white branch that comes out of the ground, not on a tree or thick bush...the plant grows in clumps, but aren't extremely dense...its about 2-4 feet tall, and it has small thorns on it...

they grow in NY state in july/august...

as far as i know, they arent poisonous, because ive had a couple handfulls of them last summer, and a couple the summer before, and haven't gotten sick...

so anybody know what they could be?

  1. Sound like blackberries to me.  Are they bitter?

  2. Marionberries is my guess, they're very similar in looks to blackberries but taste different - better really. They are super popular in OR; I don't know if they grow in NY though.
