What kind of bicycle seat do I need?

I just bought a vintage Sears Beach Cruiser c.1960s, and it needs a new seat. Will any seat I buy fit? I would have no idea how to install it. I was thinking of getting a touring saddle seat. Will it work? Thanks!

  1. bring it to your local bike shop and all your problems will go away.

Type of seats really depend on individuals. Most seats require breaking in (that or your behind breaks in first). Either way, in the bicycle world, which seat to use is hotly debated.

Another prob is you never know if that seat is good for you cuz it'll hurt your behind for weeks before it breaks in.

  2. It should be a common seat, look at the bottom where it connects to the seat post, it should be a clamp.

Here is a good seat for a beach cruiser.  It has the real springs on it not the fake rubber looking ones.

  3. Any seat will work.  they are all interchangeable unless its a $2000 dollar bike or before 1970.  You may need to change over the clamps (has 2 nuts on the end) if your new seat doesn't have it.

For a cruiser i would suggest a seat that you had.  It is probably a bit wider and has some springs on it.  Save your hind end.
