Question:

What kind of bicycle should I get?

I'm looking to purchase a bike to ride to and from work. I would also use it to do some long distance riding. I don't want a road bike (skinny tires), but something that rides like a road bike but looks like a mountain bike. I want it to be durable and nice looking. However, I don't want to spend a fortune on a bike either, maybe 200 or 300 dollars for a good one. Any suggetions?

  1. A hybrid/commuter/cyclocross would be the way to go. 28-40mm tires, small, but not like road slicks (down to even 20mm).

A cyclocross bike has a moderately durable frame, yet remains light for commuting while not weighing you down. You won't find a lot new for under a grand, if you save up, I suggest a Giant TCX. check it out.

  2. i would recommend that you choose your tires that would fit your comfort.if you dont like the looks of a road bike, choose a mountainbike frame, mob frames will do for your budget, and shimano parts might cost you some 150 bucks, but it's worth it. if you want a bike for your comfort, you must sacrifice your cash.. the better the gear, the more you will spend for them.

  3. a hybrid should be your best friend than.
