I am female, about 5'7 and 120 pounds, I want to start riding and was looking at the kawasaki 250cc or 500cc for a starter..

I undertstand that i will most likely drop it at some point but I still would like a sporty bike that can keep up on freeways so i dont get run over lol... any ideas or opinions on what i should buy would be much appreciated.. I am looking to buy something new if not, at least relatively new, Thanks for your help!

  1. listen...dont buy into that small starter bike c**p,,youll only find yourself spending more money in 2 months to get a bigger one....you control the power and speed,,just take it easy at first...get a bike that fits you....when i started riding i got a shadow spirit 750...and i still have it,,never bought anything else..and at the time i was 140 lbs..im 5'7" also...just go easy on the throttle and you will slowly feel more comfortable to go faster...always remember..the clutch is your failsafe...if anything goes wrong...squeeze the clutch and you kill the power to the engine...its that simple,,when learning the clutch is your best friend.

  2. My first bike was a 600cc.  I am only 5'2 and stand on my toes.  I think if you looking for something on the highway a 250 is not the way to go, they are good to learn on but once you no how your going to want something faster.  Since you are taller you would have no problem balancing on a higher cc bike.  As for dropping it, i would recommend putting a cage on it to protect the plastics and frame, I have one on mine and it has saved my bike a few times! good luck!
