What kind of bird looks like a black and blue sparrow and is the size of a large crow?

I saw somebird that looked like a cross between a very huge sparrow and a crow and it was black and a very dark navy blue almost black colour.

It was probably a magpie. We have those at our house.

What sparrow characteristics did it have?  You just mention the size and color..both having nothing to do with a sparrow..just want to know what made you think of a sparrow when you saw it.  This info might help me ID it.

Some blackbirds have dark blue feathers. They are a little larger than sparrows, but smaller than Crows.

It would help to know where you're located in the world. It could have been a Starling, Magpie, Black Redstart or one of hundreds of black-blue birds. Did it have a different colored beak or feet? Did you notice if it walked on the ground or hopped? Did it have a black stomach too, or was it white? If you could get a picture and post it, I'm sure one of us would be able to identify it for you.
