for those married folks out there or even the couples not married but settled enough (old enough, jobs and so forth)...how many of you actually use birth control? and what are you using?? pill, ring, patch, implant, or the ol' p+p pull and pray? mind you i mean this question for those of us that it would not be a catastrophy if we got pregnant...

  1. My husband and I have 2 kids and we had been talking about a third. We were using condoms mostly but the pull and pray method on occasion. I am about 12 weeks pregnant right now so that didn't work too well. But like I said we were talking about doing it anyway. Just not this soon. So if you are on the fence about having another one you could take your chances and see what happens. If you do not want another I would get on the pill or something more dependable. Good luck.

  2. I've been using the Mirena IUD method of birth control since November 2007. Personally, I'm a huge fan. It's 99.9% effective against pregnancy, and it's lightened my periods a LOT. My husband is allergic to latex so it works well for him too. I'm very forgetful, so pills.. rings.. patches.. they would never work for me. A friend suggested the Mirena for me when they first came out, but I was afraid because it was still such a new product. I wanted to see what the possible complications & side effects were. So far, I have yet to experience ONE. Plus... hey, they're good for 5 years! If you want kids before the 5 years is up, your doctor (or even you yourself) can just pull it right out & dispose of it. Pretty cool method if you ask me.

  3. We have 3 kids and do not plan for anymore, and neither of us can commit to permanent sterilization. :) So I have an IUD, one of the copper, non-hormonal ones (Paraguard). I have had it for the last 8 years and have had no problems. I don't do well on hormonal methods of birth control, so this was the best option for me. It's one of the most reliable methods on the market.
