Question:

What kind of bit is this?

When I first bought my pony, she had a very strange type of bit. i looked for it on the internet, and I found one called a Boucher Waterford which is what i think she has. But the bits which the reins attach to (sorry I'm really not good on bits!) are like a fulmar snaffle.

Basically the metal that is in her mouth is like the Boucher, but the outside bits have the ring, and then the pointy metal bar like the Fulmar.

I really don't know what kind of bit she has!

  1. lets get back to basics ! try your horse in a loose ring snaffle and see what happens, too many people try fancy bits and lose their way ! a fulmer is good for a young horse because it puts pressure on the cheeks to steer however bad riding and bad hands can unsettle a horses precious mouth. they cannot tell you they dont like it so go into a menage and go back to basics and see what happens X

  2. Does it look like this?:

That's a Waterford Bit with Full Cheek Bit Rings I think.

    is this it?

  4. Can you show us a pic of it? Your description is a little confusing.

  5. I agree with Helen S, you should put her in a loose ring snaffle and see how she goes. Most horses don't need anything other than a snaffle bit.
