What kind of bite is this on my child?

My 12 year has some sorda bite on his thigh dark purple dot in the middle, red swollen area around it, about 2 inches wide all the way around, then a thin white circle around that! First he said it itches now he says it stings. We live in southeast Tx. So the preditors are numerous. It is warm to the touch, and hard in the middle. I will be taking him to to the doc ASAP. but now im up at 3:15 am, worried, just looking for some help before i can get get him to the dr.

Well based on the pics of your kid I think it is a tick bite which was carrying Lyme disease. The mark on the thigh appears to be the rash associated with this bacterial infection. Most Lyme disease rashes have some kind of "bulls eye " appearance, but is is common for it to just be a reddish rash. As a man living in Houston I encounter spiders and other animals which could carry ticks; like dogs, cats, mice, small mammals and deer. But go to a doctor soon and it they test for Lyme disease a blood test could be done, but getting treatment is the most important.

However other causes of the bite could be brown recluse spider (this bite could get really bad so if it starts to bleed or ooze pus I would get help fast) or a fire ant bite (those are itchy and painful)

it looks like a reaction to the bite give him some antihistamines it should reduce the redness.

but if he starts running a fever or deterioration get him to a hospital. I'm pretty sure the red ring is a reaction so dont panic. just give him antihistamines and take him to the GP to double check

cant say for sure what sort of a bite it is hun but i would soak some antiseptic onto the bite to try kill off any infection that might set in,i hope hes ok,best of luck at the doctors.x
