What kind of blade?

I have to cut thin metal u panel.My question is what would be a good cold metal blade that will not transfer heat to the metal and ruin the finish?I will be useung it in a 71/4 inch circular saw with a 5/8 inch arbor.Thank You

  1. That depends on how thin it is. If it's thin enough to be easily bent or folded by hand, then you can just get some handheld metal shears, any hardware store would have something like that.

    That's a little more difficult and time-consuming, but it won't heat the metal.

    Otherwise, if you have a new, sharp, carbide tipped blade, and you take things very slow and easy, heat shouldn't be too much of a problem. thin stuff dissipates heat quickly. Just use light, slow, steady pressure, and don't let the saw bog down. I'd be more worried about scratching the paint than overheating it.

    Be sure to wear eye and ear protection.
