  1. try something around a 144 maybe shorter. if you are just starting i recommend NOT getting step in bindings. i have had them before and the straps are MUCH better and hold you feet in place nicely. go with any kind of burton. they have nice boards as well as some nice bindings. i would try riding regular first, if that doesnt' feel right then you can make an easy adjustment to goofy.

  2. Burtons are my favorite!

  3. Burton is the best type of board. You should probably have your left foot forward. That's regular, if you have the right foot foward it's goofy. Most people are regular, you're probably regular too. If your right foot is the most powerful, you're a regular. Your board should reach from your chin to your chest.

  4. The size of your board depends as much on your weight as it does on your height.  Assuming you're average weight you'll probably want something about 145cm long.

When you say step in do you mean the click in bindings that are kind of like ski bindings?  Because that's a horrible idea.  Stick with the straps.  I've heard mixed reviews about Flow bindings and I chose straps when I bought new bindings last month.

As a beginner you just want to buy an intermediate board that's within your price range.  The higher sensitivity on an intermediate board will help your skills advance quickly.

Brand really doesn't matter that much as long as you're not buying a bargain basement bottom rung board at a big box store or paying too much money because of a brand name.  Just make sure you get a deck the right size and price for you and you'll be good to go.  Employees at board shops who ride regularly will be your best friend.

    Happy riding!
