What kind of boat would i want for blue water sailing?

i dont want to hear anything except that about the boat. Stuff like size, make, equipment, and maybe price. Thanks

  1. Well you can tell george hasnt been near the water.

    Okay...reality...blue water means you have sufficient skills to go beyond the horizon for several days at a time.

    lets presume you can and that you are single handed.  Its not fun to have a boat so big you need permission or help in taking it out.  so be realistic ..

    most guys want something about 40.  I recommend a sloop, but a cutter will also work on good predictable days.

    reliable and simple.  that means plastic .

    now youved narrowed it down to maybe 10,000 boats.

    there is no reason to spend more than 50 to 75,000 on this there are lots of them out there and it is a Buyers Market right now.

    Dont get hung up on too many details.  a solid boat, with simple systems is more capable and safer.
