  1. It's definitely a hog jawbone.  The boxy way the ramus (vertical part) looks and how the remaining molars look definitely looks like a pig.  A cow would have broader cheek teeth and where the two halves of the jaw come together would be much narrower.  The bone looks like its from a mature animal, so scaled to your hand the bone is too short for a cow and too thick for a dog (no canines either).

  2. It is not a dog! It's teeth do not look like a carnivore.  I would guess a cow.  Cows have 32 teeth total so maybe you could count how many on the half you have.  Give it one for each of the back teeth on the top. Remember cows do not have top teeth in the front.  Good luck.

  3. I"m thinking pig.  imgurl=http://jawresearch.ca/myimages/ho...

  4. Without a good view of the teeth, it's going to be tough to tell. It seems to be an herbivore, which would eliminate dogs and pigs. Are there sheep or calves in the area? Colts?

  5. i guess it's a dogs jaw bone. I'm not really sure

  6. It would be really helpful to get a better close-up so the teeth can be seen, and I'd also like to know where it was found, including geograpical area and habitat.  My first guess is a deer, but I can't see it very well.

  7. dog jaw

  8. I would guess a pig. If it is a dog it would have to be a great dane and it is much too heavy to be a deer. It would be much easier if the pix was closer so the teeth were visible.
