What kind of bottles do you use or plan to use when baby gets here?

I was planning to go get more baby gear-and thought I'd buy some bottle...I read some reviews on playtex ventaire drop-ins and reusables...both claimed leaking and terrible gassy bellies.

Also-has anyone bought the Disney Baby Care Center Playard from walmart...is the bassinet safe? Sturdy?

What bottles/playard/diapers do you use?

  1. I use all Avent feeding products.  No leaking, no gas, lots of options.  I have a Graco playard.  It's great.  My mother has a fisher price one at her house not much different from Graco.  I use Pampers.  No leaking through.  Good luck!

  2. Heck, we used coke bottles for our kids. After we finished the Coca Cola, we rinsed the bottles out and filled them with milk and Vodka. They always slept through the night.

  3. I use the Avent bottles. I think they're great. No gassy bellies, or leaks. And they also have a Avent microwave bottle sterilizer that comes in really handy. As far as diapers, Pampers,Pampers,Pampers. I tried all of them and Pampers were the only ones that never leaked. Best of luck to you!

  4. I only breastfed at first.

When I started pumping and storing milk, I used the Avent system, which I loved.  They now make BPA free bottles, for those who are concerned about that issue.

    I preferred Pampers swaddlers/cruisers.

  5. i read a question on pregnancy about a disney bassinet being recalled and it was from walmart, so check your safety out on it.

i use mam anti colic bottles - well not so much now, she is 12mos - but i think they are great.

  6. dr Brown's are great, buy the ones that are BPA free.

    Or anything glass, not plastic.

  7. Bottles- Soothie from the makers of te first years.

    Diapers/Wipes- Huggies and Pampers

    Playard- Graco

    Strollers- Jeep and Graco

  8. are you planning on breastfeeding or formula feeding?  i took a class from a lactation consultant and she said that if you are going to be breastfeeding and will be pumping that the bottle nipples should be the closest to your own nipples to maximize breast/bottle success. i haven't had my baby yet but i have bought a few brands of bottles suggested by my lactation consultant that most closely matches my nipples and i'm just going to do trial and error and see which ones work the best.

here are the bottles i am going to try:

this is my play yard and it is very storable and portable

and i am going to use seventh generation diapers because they are chlorine free, dye free, fragrance free, latex free and they use a different kind of gel that is not irritating to most babies skin

  9. Hi!

I breastfeed & pump for my son to eat while i work. He uses Dr Browns bottles, they are great, we tried the Paytex Ventaire but they leak & i didn't like them. We haven't had gas issues so i recommend them.

I have a Graco Pack n Play, he slept there when he outgrew his bassinet. We co-sleep but whenever daddy & i need a night alone he sleeps there with no problems. He also sits there to play, naps there, it's been very useful for us.

We use huggies diapers, but i liked pampers swaddlers better when he was a newborn because they are softer. I plan on going cloth soon.

God Bless, congrats on the pregnancy!

  10. I used the vent aire bottles for my twins and they were great!

I didn't use that play yard, I had a regular Graco Pack N' Play for the living room and I used an arm's reach co-sleeper in the bedroom.

I started out using Pampers Swaddlers but when they outgrew those we switched to Luv's.

I plan to use the bottles on my chest when my next baby is born in February!  Those are perfect and never leak.  :-D

    Good luck with your baby!

  11. Playtex is the only one I've used. The one for the drop in but I breastfed my kids and I use the breastmilk freezer bags so I can just use them in the playtex bottles and those work really well that way. It's different from the drop-ins because there's less air, it works similar to a breast. I haven't used that playard but I wouldn't trust the bassinet myself.

  12. I had my baby in June & thought all bottles were the same. I had planned to breastfeed but couldn't because of medical reasons. I used regular bottles I had because they were "cute" but she ended up getting lots of gas & tummy aches. I got a free sample of a Playtex Drop Ins bottle so I tried it. She LOVES them! They helped with the gas & they are easy to clean

  13. bottles: playtex drop ins...my daughter hasn't experienced any issues with gassiness and as long as you insert the drop in properly there shouldn't be any leaking,

playard: graco with the bassinet on top...it's chocolate brown and blue...has a changing table attachment and mobile.  My daughter is 4 1/2 months and 14 lbs and is almost to heavy for the bassinet but it's worth it.

diapers: Huggies natural fit.  Right now I am not happy with them my daughter has been suffering with diarreha for the past week and we have had a couple of leaky accidents.  Other than that they have been great.  I am debating now about changing.

  14. Bottles: Gerber Clearview plastic (they are BPA free) available at Wal-Mart, Shopper's Drug Mart, many other places.

Nipples: Nuk slow flow for infants 0-6m (mimics the breast if you plan to BF and supplement with formula) ... in any case I just don't like the nipples that come with the bottles

Diapers: Pampers are my fav, Huggies are good, but mostly we get what's on sale at the time.  Keep your eye out for coupons as they can give great savings ($2.50 off!).

    Congratulations and good luck!

  15. I use Avent Wides.  My little one can't use "regular" nipples, she has to have the wides.

We bought a Graco Pack n' Play, it's worth it to get the brand in something like that.  You don't want to put your baby's safety at risk.  I know you can get them used, there was a nice looking one at the thrift store that I shop at for only $15 and it looked practically brand new! All I would do is buy new sheets for it and wipe it down.

For a long time we used the White Cloud Supreme (wal-mart brand) diapers, but we recently switched to the Walgreen's Comfort Stretch Supreme diapers, they are practically identical and the Walgreen's brand goes on awesome sales (buy one, get one free, $5 off two packs, etc) and ends up being cheaper.  We haven't had leaks (except at night, but we had that with Pampers and Huggies too)

  16. For bottles I recommend buying one or two different kinds, and seeing what your baby prefers best.  You never know what will work for your baby until he is here.

As for the play yard they are all made to safety regulations, just be sure that you read the directions and stop use of the bassinet when he reaches the weight limit or is able to pull up on his own.

Diapers - as long as your baby isn't sensitive to certain brands; we always bought the cheap ones.  It saved money and worked just as well as the other brands.

  17. I was planning on using playtex, Only if I were to pump though because I am going to breastfeed.. But I might rethink that thought if you read they give gassy bellies..

Also I am planning on using pampers diapers, Im not sure about a playard yet.. still have to do some looking around for that..

  18. I am wanting to use the drop-in playtex bottles, with the bag there is no air for baby to get gas...thats one reason I want to use them. Another I will use is the curved bottles, where even if they are not all the way upright the bottles is angled to still have milk to the nipple, so less gas there also.

Dont know about the Walmart stuff, got all my stuff bought for me.

I did get a 3in1 crib though from Walmart, it looks sturdy and came with a Sealy mattress or they might of bought it seperatly.

But Im sure anything that has been on the shelf without any recall signs should be fine, I doubt they would keep selling them if they were bad and not sturdy.

The diapers I am not sure about, I have heard from many people that huggies are really good but they sais every baby is different and may not agree with a certain brand, so I wouldnt buy too many now until you know the size of the baby (like buying NB) and if they agree with it, and dont get rashes or anything...so if a cheaper diaper works fine then why pay twice as much on the higher name brand.

I am only buying one pack of NB diapers til she comes and I see how big she is and what fits her best.

  19. i dont have a baby but i worked in a nursery and the tommy tippee bottles are very popular as they are supposed to be the most like a mothers breast so are great if you want to start off breastfeeding then change to the bottle after a little while. Also Dr Browns bottle are good becasue they reduce the amount of air the baby takes in so the baby should't get bad colic or wind.

  20. we use pampers swaddlers, everything else, including huggies has leaked for us...

we have a chicco play yard..we looked at a zillion and it was the sturdiest and it had the most padding for baby to lay on, play on later...has wood slats under padding, so it can be washed by removing them, and they are much more supportive than some that i have heard are made out of cardboard...some we looked at you couldn't machine wash at all, u had to wipe clean...it folds down, fits in a bag and rolls on it's wheels to travel, has a play bar that you can put over play yard to hang toys from, plus it comes with some, vibrates, plays music, has a nightlight all with remote...the support bars were the sturdiest we could find, it has the bassinet feature, which we are still using and are very comfy with, also has a nice changing station that flips up for use and hangs on side when not being used...will try to post a link at the bottom for it if i can find it....

we use ventaire advanced bottles, they vent through bottom so less air in baby's milk instead of it coming back in through nipple and creating bubbles in milk...supp to be clinically proven to decrease gas, colic, etc....a few more parts to wash, but easier to get bottles clean bc both ends come off....a lot of ppl say that they leak, but if you put them together right you won't have  a prob....i had to figure it out at first too, now i don't have leaks and i have not had to replace any bottles or parts....everything must be dry, esp vent, disk...place vent very snugly in disk, carefully putting on bottle and watching to make sure you don't accidentally move plastic vents parts; these are what make sure it doesn't leak---now, me, my hub, mom and MIL can all use them without leaks...and again, parts must be DRY....:) my dd loves these, she didn't take to the avent very well, but the first of these she tried, she took right too them....i have the narrows, but they make them in wide too.....

    ok , my play yard...

they do have it in diff colors too..

  21. I like the Avent bottles and so have my babies.

For both my kids I've used the Target store brand dipes.  They are the cheapest I've found and actually have worked pretty well!  They look really thin but they hold more than you would think.

My oldest is close to 2years now and he wets heavier at night than he use to so we have had a few leaks.  If you end up with a heavy wetter you may try a brand name a night.  Luvs was good too, and I HATED Huggies.  They leaked all over!
