My boyfriend told me about this bug he saw when he was younger. One day after he got out of a shower, this thing crawled from behind the toilet and when he slammed a towel on it and stomped on it, it disappeared completely. He doesn't know what kind of bug it was.

Here is its description: It was a pale yellow. He said it was about 3 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide and flat. It was kinda in the shape of a teardrop. It had a lot of legs and had 2 pairs of antennas, one pair on each end of the bug. The antennas were a little longer then the legs. He is guessing this bug is in the centipede family.

I never saw a bug like this before, so I cant do any research on it. We live in Maryland, I didn't think anything like that existed around here.

What kind of bug/insect do you think this is???

If you have an idea, PLEASE send me an image.

I am very curious on what this thing is.

  1. Silverfish its is a crustacean kinda like a saltwater cocroach.

  2. Sounds like a waterbug or a cockroach. Although they are usually dark brown or black, the size you described along with the flatness, sounds like a waterbug or cockroach to me.  Without a picture, it really is hard to say though. Silverfish are normally not very big.

  3. I would check out this site...and not just under suspected bug/insect catagories...there are a lot of creepy little things that could be what you're looking for under any of them.

  4. It sounds like a House Centipede. They'll only bite if you upset them, and their bite will hurt, but isn't too harmful to humans.

Re: the fact that it disappeared from under the towel when he stomped on it, I can only imagine that it escaped and hid somewhere.

    Here's a pic. of one:
