It is not a bug, it is an insect, a moth.  Looks like it could be on of the sphinx moths.  Some are referred to as hummingbird moths because they hover over flowers.  There are many species.  I've included a link that has lots of pretty pictures of these moths.  Perhaps you would like to look through them and see if you can find the exact specie.
