  1. We just found the same insect on our trees, they hatch from a hard shell, found one just hatching, but several empty shells.  If you find out please let us know, jlbnmich@yahoo.com  We have same exact pic that you have.  Thanks and good luck to us, lol!!


  2. Its a newly molted cicada. They produce a loud sound to call for mates, and they are notorious for their effects on trees as subterranean nymphs and also for adults. The adults drink sap. If you manage to catch it, you will see a huge needle-like mouthpart. This pierces the bark.

    The newly molted adult came from the underground creature. The brown thing the cicada is on is the skin of the digger.
