I purchased freeze dried crickets, meal worms, and blood worms. I also got fly larva (already dead) from the pet store. I am still feeding it the proper formula (dog food, egg, apple sauce, tums) I am just introducing seed and insects for it to get used to them and sample them. are the fly larva ok???. What other bugs can a use that they would eat...I know not to feed earth worms. I read cautions about too much meal worms or crickets due to hard shell. When the bird is bigger can it continue with mixture from the formula and allow it to self feeding or is something else better? I have been cautioned earlier that this bird would not be a good candidate for rerelease. Thank you for your time and energy.

  1. please find a wildlife rehabber in your area to care for the bird.  of course the bird is a good candidate for re-release, that's the point of the whole exercise; isn't it?  sparrows are not household pets.

  2. I raised my house sparrow and fed him waxworms...then when he got older...bird seed

  3. You could try to feed them bee moths.  These are live, soft bodied worms.  You should be able to get them at the bait shop.

  4. you can give it parakeet seed or finch and canary seed mine love it i mix all the seed cuzz theres different kinds and they love it  ^_^

  5. kill them
