  1. http://www.petwebsite.com/rabbits/nether...

This site has some pictures of Netherland Dwarf Rabbits.

I would personally go with a Netherland Dwarf Rabbit because I have owned 3 of them before and they were the best rabbits I ever had. I managed to toilet train the first one of them. After that one died, I got two more females and they would pee and poo in their bed. I think it was because they were in the same cage. I would suggest getting one female rabbit because the males spray. The rabbit I have now is a X breed and she is very territorial, not cuddly, and she bites. I never had this trouble with my ND Rabbits.

For more information, go onto google and type in 'Netherland Dwarf Rabbit'. It will come up with a list of sites.

Good Luck and I'm sure you will find the best rabbit for YOU.

  3. Since everyone has their own favorite breed you are going to get tons of different answers for this. I have been raising and showing rabbits for over 8 years and  have experience with around 10 different breeds. Out of all these my favorite by far are the Mini Rex's. If you are wanting a playful rabbit you can't get any better than a Mini Rex. I have 20-30 head of show stock and 2 indoor pets (who are litter box trained) and to me they are the clowns of the rabbit world. My latest buck is hilarious. He loves to pick up pieces of paper, or cardboard and run around the house with it. But because Mini Rex's are so outgoing and playful they don't tend to make a good "lap bunny" as they tend to like to get down and explore everything.

So if you would like something that you can just carry around and hold I would take a look at the Holland Lops. They are adorable and are pretty much like Netherland Dwarfs with lop ears. They can be playful but they are much more laid back than the MR and make good pets for children and people who are looking for something to hold all the time.

I know you mentioned Dwarfs. "Dwarf" can refer to any breed of small rabbit recognized by the A.R.B.A. but the smallest are the Netherland Dwarfs. While these guys are extremely cute and cuddly looking I would not recommend them to first time bunny owners. I have around 30 Nethes and although they all have their own different personalities they all tend to be very high strung and nippy. Especially the does.

I could go on and on but these are my 3 favorite breeds. There are over 45 recognized breeds by the A.R.B.A so really the choice is up to you. You can see pictures of them all at http://arba.net/Breeds.htm

You can click on each breeds photo to take you to their National breed club.

One other thing, please do not buy from a pet store. Buying from a good, responsible breeder in your area is the best way to get a good, healthy bunny with years of help and answers to any questions or problems you have even after the sale.

  4. I hear Flop eared rabbits can get cancer really easily. I had one named Logan and he died at 10 months. I was devastated. But my rabbit with straight eared rabbit lived ALOT longer.

  5. I prefer rex or lionheads they are adorable very in contact people they are a posed breed and are very intelegent or i would recomend a flemish giant they are sometimes called a gental giant.
