What kind of cable do i need to hook up my laptop to my HDTV?

  1. You need a VGA cable. Its the same cable that Monitors use on Desktop PC's. You can also use S-video but the quality is low-grade. You need to make sure that your PC has an output for VGA. The plug has 15 pins and is usually Blue. You also need to make sure that your television has an input.


  2. You can use either a VGA cable, or an S-Video cable. Make sure to go from the output in your laptop, to an Input in your TV. Remember, though, to press either FN+F5 or FN+F8 to get the display on your TV, and to change the display combination.

  4. The right way to do it is to use a VGA to HDMI converter if your HDTV does not take VGA.  The newer HDTV models have VGA posts on the back of them.  If you have an early HDTV with a DVI power, there are adapters for that.
