Me and my dad are thinking about adopting this beautiful bird from a bird rescue. We really think that adopting is better then pet stores. We feel the same way about dogs. Here's the bird.

We haven't owned a bird before. we were going to start out with something small but then we did some research and learned about the bird. If you could send me a link showing me what ind of cage i need on petsmart or petco or even petland I would love that. Thanks ♥ Cloclo

  1. The biggest bird cage you can possibly afford. I would look online for it - Petco & Petsmart will charge you twice as much. Look at www.petsolutions.com or www.thatpetplace.com - or better yet - ebay.

    Good luck.

  2. oh my goodness

ok the first thing you need to know about that bird was that it was plucking horribly badly. PLEASE CONSIDER A PET STORE! I am against pet stores as well, I own a pet rescue center, I understand, however this bird is definately not a healthy choice and first time bird owners should buy a bird that they are confident is healthy. I bought my cockatiel from a pet store and he is the best thing thats ever happened to me. If you won't go to a pet store, google Cockatoo breeders and you'll get quality birds without the pet store mark up.

As far as cage sizes go, if you won't listen to me about a different bird:

As big as you can possibly afford. If you can afford a 500 dollar cage DO IT. Your bird will be much healthier and happier. As far as rule of thumb....if the bird can stretch its wings out and they don't touch the sides its usually good enough. Still, as big as you can!

    I really hope this helps!

  3. http://www.ukparrotcages.co.uk/cockatoos...

is a good website to get on has a lot of info

little advice you might already know this but cockatoos especially need a lot of attention that's why people usually start out with a small bird to see if they can handle a big one

    but good luck with Marshmellow

  4. I do not suggest you look on ebay for your new cage.  I have never had a good experience buying bird cages on ebay in 10 years.

This cage is a very good choice:

    Or this one:

Those are the best cages for those prices.  Cockatoos require A LOT of space. Even more than what a similar bird of their size would require.  That's why I would personally only go with the double cages as the absolute smallest cage to put him in.

  5. a big big cage.

about $200.00 just for the write size cage.

they also like to be taken out of there cage for excersize and love.

    your welcome(:

  6. the biggest bird cage you can afford . and if you can only afford a small one then get a big dog kennel and put newspaper at the bottom and pole or sticks in there so they can perch

  7. oh my god. u have a good heart. that bird needs a good home and lots and lots of love. god bless you.
