If you mean brand I would suggest Sony or Canon, if you are looking for format I would suggest at least a 3CCD (Panasonic PV-GS500) camcorder for everyday types of video. If you are really interested in Pro cameras I would suggest a High Definition camcorder (Sony HDR-FX7 or FX1). The cheapest camcorder I think would be a plain mini-dv camcorder that does not have that many features but can do its job flawlessly (Samsung SC-D372).
