I'm getting ready to have my first baby and I don't think my current car will work out. I have a Scion tC, which I love, but it's only a 2 door and the back seat is very deep. I drove a friend of mine the other day and in order to get her baby in and out of the back seat I actually had to climb in to the back seat with the baby!

We'd like to get a nice used car and still keep my tC, so we got a loan for $10,000. I'm having a hard time narrowing down my search though, so I'm hoping you all can help. Here are my requirements:

must be under $10,000

must have less than 100,000 miles

must have 4 doors

can't be any older than 2002

needs to have ample trunk space for strollers and such

Any suggestions from people who have more experience in this field than I do? ;o)

  1. Don't forget the "seat belts." to hold the baby in. <}:-})

  2. No no no, not a minivan.  I've had so many and now have an SUV.  SUV's are sooo much better and I'm not sure why I wanted a minivan in the first place.  SUV's have everything a minivan has plus performance and handling.

  3. Mazda 3 is very nice.

Is there a reason that you want to keep a car that is not going to work well for your family. It does not get any easier to have a two door car. -This way you can spend more on a better family car.

    - Okay I understand : )

  4. covertable without seatbelts

  5. May I suggest a Toyota Rav4. They are VERY dependable and get great gas mileage!!!!!!!!!! You can get a used one with pretty good miles for that price range! I loved my 2003 Rav4, but we now have two large dogs and are trying to start a family, so I traded it in for a Chevy Trailblazer - which I TOTALLY love!! It has so much space and more toys. But if you just have one child and no dogs, I think a Rav4 would be perfect for you! :)

  6. well probaby a small one like a mini cooper or punch buggy you need a  very safe and smooth one good luck

  7. Minivan

  8. subaru

  9. Don't get a van or truck! If you're expecting a baby you can't afford the gas costs of a minivan, van, truck etc. Get something with 35 mpg on highway or something. People say that they are safer, but they aren't. It is much harder to avoid a crash in a minivan, van, truck etc. And even if you may be safer, it is not safer for the person that you crash into.

  10. Honda Accord. I've had one for years and we just got a new one. They are greatly dependable and have great gas mileage. You won't be sorry if you buy one!

  11. I have a CRV and love it and if I was to ever buy another car it would be the only thing I would buy!!!

  12. Anything but a 2 door.  Those are hard as heck to have with kids.  Personally, I like minivans or we have a ext Trailblazer, love that.  Get something that the back row folds down or splits.

  13. Ford Escape. I have had one since my son was born and have used it for over a year now.

Smaller SUV that is great on gas, plenty of space, four doors for easy entrance/exit, rear hatch/window entrance with room for those groceries and diapers. It drives great and comes with many great features. If you shop around you can find them for a good deal. Best way to go IMHO.

  14. a mini van...

  15. we have a 2004 grand jeep cherokee and i love it--i feel super safe in it and the back fits my stroller for my 7 month old and diaper bags and still room for some toys...I live in WI so the 4 wheel drive is super nice and reliable and also safe for accident reasons---good luck

  16. Get a CR-V

  17. i'd say a car but a pretty big one not like a punch bugfgie! good luck on your search!
