  1. Your are pretty much stuck with a suv. Most suv's have a towing capacity of 3000-4000. I sell Nissan's and the Altima's only tow 1000 safely. I also believe our new Rogue (which is a crossover) with a premium package only tows 1000 or 1500 as well.

Don't think you will find a car that will be able to safely handle 3000.

  2. A small truck or SUV is the minimum vehicle I would use to tow 3000 lbs.  Even mid-size cars aren't built to handle this.

Perhaps a Chevy Colorado or Ford Explorer .

  3. As far as motors go, V6 is the way to go but you might be able to get away with a larger 4 cylinder if you are OK with the some engine strain/loss of performance when you are towing.

Outside of that, you want something with a class 2 hitch which would also assure you the tongue weight rating is high enough.  .  Class 1 comes on most cars and alot of the smaller, cheaper SUVs so you need to keep an eye out for that.  Class 1 would give you the benefit of lower vehicle weight when the bumper rips off though.

  4. I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://carquotes.fateback.com

A car (or, probably, truck) with such power will have high insurance price.

  5. Ford Edge or Buick Enclave

    Ford Explorer
