i just finished college, and i am in need of a car. i will have to pay for my own gas and insurance... i have almost 10 000 saved up but not quite.

i actually want a truck or suv but will not be able to afford it or the gas, i need something reliable that wont break all the time.

i hate cars because they are small and little and they scare me i feel like i'm gonna get squished by the big trucks... i also hate the feeling that im sitting on the road... i want one with 4 doors (aparently insurance is cheaper with just 4 doors?). i do not know anything really about cars so any advice would be great.

i live in canada... ontario actually... my dad will be helping me buy it but i need to tell him what exactly i'm looking for and i cant just tell him a car or i'll end up with a grandma car and i dont want that...

oh and i live in the country so it has to be able to handle gravel roads... since i drive on them all the time...

  1. I think a car that is good for you is the Ford Escape Hybrid. It gets really good mileage and it's like an SUV. It might be pretty hard to find a pre-owned one though, new ones definitely cost more than what you have saved.

  2. not the best on gas but i love my jeep liberty on country roads

  3. Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder

    Toyota 4 Runner

  4. get a Toyota Prius if you don't think its ugly because you can save the environment. the car is kind of fat and a little tall. it's like $22,000. but you may find one for like $15,000 used. check out these websites.

  5. You should look into Toyota because they are very reliable and good on gas but don't go for ford or Dodge because there are to many problems with reliability with there cars. Toyota is a very good and reliable brand you may like. You can also try Honda or Mazda because they are good cars. In my opinion go for a Toyota because I have a corolla 2004 thats a 4 cylinder and it runs great and its very reliable and good on gas. I live in Massachusetts and I have no problems with my car and I also drive to Connecticut almost every weekend for the past 5 years to see my fience so trust me.

Go for one of those brands and you will be good.

Hope I helped and take good care =]

  6. A pre owned Subaru all wheel drive vehicle... perhaps a legacy sedan thats 5 or 6 years old. You, if you have the income to do so, consider putting 5-7 grand down on a car that costs about 10k, and financing the remaining 5k which shouldnt be too bad (like 100-200 bucks a month for a 3-5 year loan)

Its important for many to have some money savings in todays world... it has made ME alot more comfortable. Money in the bank buys time to handle disasters. Simple.

  7. Get a station wagon, I know its considered uncool to have one but to be honest there are many cool station wagons. Subaru makes some cool ones with 4 wheel drive that will be good on gas and be able to handle the roads your asking about. Also you cant beat german, a BMW 3 series wagon might be a little out of your price range but a used Audi would be great and no one knows 4 wheel drive better then audi.
