  1. The best thing is to find the kind of work that you ENJOY doing....that way you'll never have to "work" a day in your life..because you'll be having so much fun doing what you enjoy doing. (and the bonus is that you'll get paid$$ for having fun!!)

  2. This may sound completly out of left field... But I think you should open an alternative religion shop....

Sell rocks and herbs and books....

you can also use it as an opportunity to meet like minded people and to truly explore your beliefs and who you want to be...........

  3. Plastics!

Seriously, consider genetics.  It's no cake walk, but it's a growth industry that can just about guarantee job security.

I wish I had been an engineer.  (Not the choo-choo train kind.)  That job is challenging and pays pretty well.

Whatever you do, please don't become a lawyer.  We have too many of those already. :)

Also, realize that the harder you work now the easier life will be later.  I skated through my teens and twenties and although I like my current job well enough, I've always been at the mercy of someone else because of my previous laziness and apathy.

    Good luck!

  4. A college education (if you don't already have one) never hurts to have. Any academic advisor or college counselor can help you by offering both career counseling and testing. This helps to determine what you are best at and what you are most interested in (they often are not the same thing). It is good to be aware of the areas of study that will be most challenging for you before you start but this shouldn't keep you from pursuing your interest.

I agree with the earlier suggestion to take all your basic required classes first as they have to be done and can all be counted toward whatever degree you pursue.

If you choose not to pursue higher education I suggest a CDL (commercial driver license) and moving to SE New Mexico where starting truck drivers can make 50K and I know of some making 90K a year. There is also oil field work readily available.

  5. p**n star

  6. Do you want to travel? do you want to spend your life on a cubicle? do you want to be in a hospital or an office? do you see yourself in court whether as a lawyer, judge or a criminal?

do you see yourself with a blackberry? do you see yourself working night, day shifts?

You may have no idea what career to choose, but if you think about how you want to spend the rest of your life working so you can make money that will give you an idea.

For example, you may love finances.. and you study them... but do you see yourself as an accountant in a tiny cublicle of an office or do you just like to read that section of the newspaper and move on?

  7. You should have been giving your career a lot of thought before this.  If you plan to go to college, take all the generals first while you ponder what your major will be.  There is no way anyone can tell you what your career will be.  That is a decision that is absolutely up to you and you alone.

  8. Anything in the medical field.

  9. writing

  10. Did you ever read ferry tails?  for example, Allice in Wonderland where she comes to a fork in the road, and she askes the Cheshire Cat "Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"  paraphrasing from here, "where do you want to go?" askes the cat,  "I don't know" replied Allice, "well then, your all ready there."

Jumping out of ferry tails in to the real world now, Robert T. Kiyosaki states you have to define the lifestyle you want, learn from those who have it, then go do what they did to get it.

I know it's a little bit backwords from go to school, get good grades and get a good job, but if you want different results, you have to do something different.

Define the lifestyle you want, big house, nice cars, lots of family time, no debt, no job, enough passive income to live off of comfortably.  Learn from those who have this lifestyle, then do what they did to get that lifestyle.
