We are thinking of getting a cat (preferably all white), can anyone tell me some breeds that fit this description, and also please tell me why one should adopt a cat(the benefits, etc), as well as what kinds of things you do to play with your cat.

  1. you need decide if you want it to go out or not because an expensive cat could get stolen if left to roam the streets on its own. also health problems are more prominent in some breeds than others so if you cant afford vets bills don't get one prone to health problems you also need to decide on the sort of temperament it needs to have. im not so much into private breeding i think there are to many irresponsible breeders out there so i think the best thing is to get a mixed breed type cat from a rescue centre i have 3 and they are all lovely boys who love lots of cuddles and can go out when they like. its a good idea to get vet insurance if you dont think you can afford vets bills

  2. persian :)

  3. Himalayan!!! i have one and its awesome!!! its all white except for on its face, the tips of its toes, and its tail. its super cute! Himalayans are very manageable, and playful, mine like feathery stuff :P  --- look them up online, they're great

  4. Purebreds:

Birman or ragdolls (amazing cats but pretty expensive but totally worth it!)

Turkish Vans (Love water and can be taught tricks very easily like dogs)

These are only the described breeds that I know of, I own 2 mixed breed cats and they are great!

Or you can go to your local shelter, there ought to be one there, they aren't very uncommon and they appreciate you more because they will be in a home, not a shelter.

You would also be giving a home to a home less cat thus contributing greatly to the population of cats who have homes.

A cat from a shelter is as good a cat as any other and they are cheaper (this should not be your only reason for adopting a cat from a shelter)!

Cats will play with almost anything that moves, just buy a rod with some long, thick, soft material at the end, cats love this. If you want you can also get some catnip for a treat every once in a while (but don't overdo it).

Also as a side note I did not say that you HAVE to buy from a shelter because that is up to you. And all of the advice given is from personal experiance and my own opinion.

  5. You need to think more into it, what kind of temprement do you want your cat to have? How furry? Indoor or outdoor? Also, if your looking into a breed it would be good to research them and see what health problems they have, for example persians are prone to breathing problems and often need 'nose jobs' they also have a lot of sinus problems. So its wise to look up what problems the breed you go for has. Although, pet insurance should cover those problems.

You should adopt a cat (from a shelter) instead of buying one, because thousands of cats are destroyed if they don't get new homes.

The things i've bought my cat are:

Scratch post, mice toys, balls, ribbons on a stick, catnip toys, generally cat toys from pet stores.Oh and she has a cat bed. And then theres the neccessities, like litter trays, food, grooming brush (i have a ragdoll) have a look on the internet, you can actually get starter kits - so that will set you up for starters :)

Are you from the USA or the UK?

  6. I got my cat at a petmart 15years ago. He is a mix bread and the best cat anyone could ask for. He is very much like a dog, but clean. He likes to fetch toys and brings them to me so I can throw. He is very healthy. I think mix breeds are better than pure breeds because they seem more domesticated.  I do recomend getting them very young, so you can train them to do what you want. my cat listens to me, and I have trained him to understand what is right or wrong.
