What kind of cheese is used in a Quesadilla at a Mexican Restaurant?

I love the Quesadilla Del Mar (Quesadilla with cheese, crab meat and shrimp) at my local Mexican place, but I am dieting and have no idea how bad it is for me! If I knew what kind of cheese they use, I could guess at how many weight watcher points it is. Thanks!

  1. I think they use mozzarella or cheddar... i've made them at home!! :)


  2. most mexican restaurants i go to use chedder cheese in their quesadillas.  at home i use kraft mexican fiesta sheredded cheese.  it has little bit's of jalapeno in it...(lots of people mistake it for mold.)  i love quesadillas!

  3. Go to gourmetsleuth.com then in the search box type: guide to mexican cheeses.  It will tell you all the cheeses and their substitutes.

  4. A blend of monterey jack and mozzarella.

  5. Mmm quesadillas are usually made of "Oaxaca" cheese. I dont know the American name for a similar cheese tough.
